This is a recommended approach for tracking inventory of bulk products—items that are bought and sold in quantities that cannot be counted as individual units.
Examples include:
Candy, nuts, and gumballs (used in bulk machines)
Ingredients for hot drink machines (coffee, sugar, milk powder, etc.)
Recommended Unit of Measure
We recommend using a consistent unit of measure such as:
Ounces (oz) or
Kilograms (kg)
Define Bulk Products in Inventory
When setting up a bulk product:
Units per Case
Enter the quantity per package
(e.g., 42 oz per bag)
Reorder Point
Enter the quantity at which you want to reorder
(e.g., 42 = one bag)
In Warehouse (Initial Quantity)
Enter total available quantity
(e.g., 2 bags × 42 oz = 84)
Unit Cost
Enter cost per unit
(e.g., $15.97 ÷ 42 = $0.3802 per oz)
Log a Bulk Product Purchase
When recording purchases:
The system automatically fills Units per Case (e.g., 42)
You can adjust it if the package size differs
Configure Machines with Bulk Products
In the Planogram:
Set Max Capacity using the same unit
Example:
If a canister holds 5 bags of 42 oz:
5 × 42 = 210
Enter Trip Results for Bulk Products
On the Enter Trip Results screen:
Enter Filled Quantity using the same unit
Example:
If you add 2 bags of 42 oz:
2 × 42 = 84
